What is Cosplay?

Cosplay comes from the words 'costume' and 'play' whereby a person prepares a costume, dress up as a character (normally from anime or games) of their choice and 'play' (or in an easier term 'act out') that character. For RAGE, the cosplay competition consists of 2 categories; Solo and Group. Cosplayers will be judged based on how captivating their costumes are and how accurate they portray the character.

RAGE Cosplay Competitions

Group Cosplay Competition

For Group Cosplay, 2 or more cosplayers are required to form a group, and they will be granted an 8 minute timeslot to perform on stage. They can choose to enact a skit, a fight scene, or maybe even a scene from an anime.

Cosplayers are allowed to use songs or recordings for their performance. Such material must, however, be handed to the organizers prior to the event. More details can be found in the rules below.

Group Cosplay Competition will be held on Day 1.

Solo Cosplay Competition

As the name suggests, the Solo Cosplay Competition is where cosplayers get to compete... well, solo. Cosplayers will be judged through 2 rounds: Picture Perfect (cosplayers have to strike poses which best match the character) and a secret, performance round.

Solo Cosplay Competition will be held on Day 2.

Favourite Cosplayer Award

Not a "competition", really. This award will be awarded to favourite cosplayer through a voting process.

Rules and Regulation

  • Cosplayers will be judged through 2 rounds: A preliminary round (Picture Perfect) and a secret, final round.
  • Judging criteria will only be revealed on the day itself.
  • Costumes, props, materials and tools are brought in by the cosplayers at their own responsibility. The committee will not be responsible for the damage or loss of items.
  • Cosplayers are required to dress decently. Outrageous clothing or nudity is strictly forbidden within event grounds. Please be reminded that the audience is the general public of all ages.
  • Cosplayers are required to clean up after using the stage.
  • Substances that are explosive, flammable, toxic, radioactive, corrosive or substances that may cause damage and/or harm in any way will not be allowed in the event and the campus grounds.
  • Please do not bring up sensitive issues like religion and politics. We're all here just to have fun~
  • Rollerblades, Skateboards and other wheeled items are not allowed in the event area. Cosplayers may pose with them,but they are NOT allowed to move in them in the event area.
  • Prizes will be forfeited should the winner or a representative not present himself/herself at the time of prize giving. No appeals will be entertained.
  • The RAGE judges decision is final, no appeals will be entertained.
  • Registration Fee: RM 0 per person. Yes, it's free :3
Group Cosplay Competition Rules

  • Maximum number of members allowed in a group is 10.
  • The maximum duration for the skit is 8 minutes.
  • Those involved with the skit are required to be in front of the stage 10 minutes before the skit begins.
  • Any music, recordings etc are to be submitted online together with the registration form prior to the event to ensure that no technical problems arise.
  • All music, recordings etc are to be recorded in the MP3 format only. Other formats will not be accepted.
  • Costumes, props, materials and tools are brought in by the cosplayers at their own responsibility. The committee will not be responsible for the damage or loss of items.
